Marathon2500 Landmark Herodotus free reading groups

As part of our celebration of the Battle of Marathon 2,500 anniversary, we will be running multiple Landmark Herodotus reading groups.

There will be monthly phone conference calls at 8pm ET starting Monday, October 11 2010  and going through March 7, 2011. Phone numbers (including Skype numbers) will be made available free of charge to all participants thanks to our sponsors Citrix Online and their HiDefConferencing division.

Reading Odyssey process?

The process is simple:

- readers will read approximately one chapter a month of the Landmark Herodotus - with reading questions assigned by the moderator

- then each month the readers will get on the phone to discuss that chapter (and the reading questions assigned by the moderator)

- each phone call is recorded and the .mp3 is made available to the readers who missed it

- The moderator is also available via e-mail during the month to answer questions - and members are encouraged to use the group e-mail listserv and blog to discuss the reading

Edition?

We'll be using Robert Strassler's Landmark Edition. Robert Strassler will be delivering one of the lectures for the lecture series (see below) and may visit one or more of the reading group phone calls.

The Landmark Edition is available at Amazon or can be borrowed through your local library using the Reading Odyssey website directory of U.S. libraries - http://borrowabook.org.
